Conflict coaching
For when the other person will not take part
A specialised one-to-one process that helps an individual handle a dispute better — whether or not anyone else is willing to engage.
What it is
Conflict management coaching, or conflict coaching, is a specialised one-to-one process that helps people improve the way they engage in their interpersonal disputes. The model we use integrates executive coaching, conflict management and neuroscience principles, and is designed around each person’s own goals rather than a fixed curriculum.
Several of our practitioners are certified in the CINERGY conflict coaching model, and hold International Coaching Federation accreditation.
Who it suits
Three situations where coaching works better than mediation.
One-sided
The other person will not mediate
Mediation needs both parties. Coaching does not — it works with the person in front of you, on what they can actually control.
Leadership
A manager who keeps hitting the same wall
For people whose role means handling conflict repeatedly, and who want to change their own pattern rather than resolve one incident.
Preparation
Before a difficult conversation
Rehearsing and preparing for a conversation someone has been avoiding, including where it may end in a formal process.
Next step
Arrange a conversation
Coaching is usually a small number of sessions rather than an open-ended commitment. Tell us the situation and we will suggest a shape.
