The cost of leaving it

According to the Labour Relations Agency, workplace conflict costs Northern Ireland employers around £850 million a year. Most of that is not litigation. It is sickness absence, lost productivity, management time, recruitment to replace people who left, and the slow damage done to a team that has stopped talking honestly.

A formal grievance takes months and usually leaves both people still in the building. Mediation typically takes a day.

What we do

Disputes

Workplace mediation

Two colleagues, a team that has split, or a grievance you would rather resolve than process.

One to one

Conflict coaching

For an individual facing a difficult situation — confidential, and it does not require the other person to take part.

Groups

Facilitation & consultancy

Away-days, restructures, difficult decisions, and meetings that need someone impartial holding the room.

Capability

Training for your team

Accredited and CPD training delivered in-house, built around the situations your people actually face.

Set up your own mediation service

Some organisations do not want to keep buying mediation in. They want the capability internally — trained people, a referral route, and a process that sits properly alongside their grievance policy.

We have been helping organisations do exactly that for thirty years, and we still run live cases ourselves, so what we teach is current rather than remembered.

That work has included the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast, and Health & Social Care Trusts across the UK.

Colleagues in discussion

Training for your team

Nineteen courses, from a single day on the conversation people avoid to an eight-day accredited mediation qualification. Book one seat on a published date, or have any of them delivered to your own people at a day rate.

Enquire about in-house training

Tell us about the group, roughly how many people, and what you want them to walk away with. We will come back with dates and a cost, and say plainly if a different course fits better.

Would rather talk it through? Book a 30-minute call.

“Organisations that partner with TIDES Mediation NI don’t just meet a quota; they become part of a peacebuilding legacy.”

Social value

We are a charity and a social enterprise. Engaging us is a straightforward, evidenced line on a social value return — not a bolt-on, but the actual mechanism by which the community work is paid for.

£7.04 of social value for every £1 invested, independently modelled over three years. See the figures and the method.

Request a workplace mediation

If you already know you want a mediator, send us the details and we will come back to you. The referral form is for organisations referring a workplace dispute.

Start with a conversation

Tell us what is happening. We will tell you honestly whether mediation is the right tool, and what it would take.
