Workplace Conflict Management
Conflict at work isn’t a sign that something has gone wrong. It’s a sign that people care about different things. What matters is whether someone steps in early and knows what to do.

Who it’s for
Managers, team leaders, HR staff and supervisors — anyone who ends up in the middle of other people’s disagreements, whether or not it’s in their job description.
No previous training is needed, and there are no prerequisites. Most people arrive because a situation at work prompted them to look.
This is a complete day in its own right — not an introduction to something longer. It’s the course most of our workplace clients take, and many take nothing else.

What happens on the day
Practical from the start. You’ll spend the afternoon working through real situations, not listening to theory.
Morning
Reading the situation
Why conflict escalates, what it costs, and how to read a situation before reacting to it. You’ll assess your own conflict style and see how it lands on other people.
Midday
The conversation
How to open a difficult discussion without making it worse. What to say first. What to do when someone gets upset, defensive, or walks out.
Afternoon
Practice
Real scenarios worked through properly — situations drawn from what actually happens in workplaces, with feedback from practising mediators.
You’re taught by people who mediated last week, not people who studied it.
Who teaches it
Practising mediators, not trainers who read about it. Our team handles real workplace and community cases every week — including neighbour and community disputes across Northern Ireland — and every example on the day comes from that work.

What you leave with
- A method for stepping into a disagreement early, before it becomes formal
- Language for opening conversations you’ve been avoiding
- A clear sense of when to handle something yourself and when to escalate
- A CPD accredited certificate
A taste of the course
This is The Response Spectrum, one of the modules from the course, taught in full and free to watch.
The Response Spectrum
Every response to a conflict at work sits somewhere on a spectrum, from walking away at one end to a tribunal at the other. Knowing where you are on it, and what the next option along actually costs, is usually the whole decision.
One module from the course, free and in full. More free tools.

Common questions
Do I need any experience?
No. This is the entry point to our training. Most people arrive because a situation at work prompted them to look.
Is it the same course online?
Yes — same content, same accreditation, same trainers. The practice sessions run in breakout rooms.
Can you run this for our whole team?
Yes, and it’s often better value. In-house delivery lets us build the day around the situations your people are actually dealing with, and afterwards everyone shares the same language for raising things. Training for your team.
What if I need to cancel?
To confirm — cancellation and transfer terms.
Run this course for your own team
This course also runs in-house, for one group in your own setting or online, at a day rate rather than per seat. That is separate from booking a place on a public date above.

Other courses
What else we run
Every course stands on its own, with its own outcomes and its own accreditation. Nothing here has to be taken in order. Take one, or combine several.
Constructive Professional Dialogue
A different day covering different ground: leading the difficult conversation yourself, rather than stepping into someone else’s.
Accredited qualifications
If you want a recognised qualification rather than a skills day. Each carries its own OCN accreditation, and none of them require this course first.
