What this course is
In a workplace: Our five-day mediation training for organisations: analysing a dispute properly before intervening, then mediating it.
In a community setting: Five days of Level 3 practice: reading a conflict in its context, then mediating it with people who have to live alongside each other afterwards.
This is our corporate mediation offering: five days, Level 3, analysis plus supervised practice. It is the workplace counterpart to the eight-day practitioner qualification, which is pitched at community practitioners. It runs for both audiences.
What you will cover
Delivered against the OCN Northern Ireland unit specification. By the end of it you will have covered:
- Conflict styles, your own conflict management style, and the impact of each
- Conflict analysis models including the conflict tree, conflict pillars and the iceberg model
- Using those models to read a conflict and find ways to move it forward
- Planning, justifying and applying a conflict management strategy through mediative communication and practice
Who it is for
We run this for workplaces and for community organisations alike. The material is the same; the examples and the pace are set by the group in the room.
This is qualification — an accredited qualification. You are assessed against the awarding body criteria and registered with OCN Northern Ireland.

It carries 4 credits at 36 hours of guided learning. Day counts shown across the site are our own approximation at six guided hours a day, and are indicative only — the awarding body specifies hours, not days.
